Building Dwelling Thinking

Since their appearance people have felt the need or a dwelling space even though no concept of organization of this space into a real building was part of their concept. Using the word dwelling to explain it, people have felt the need for a space where they used to feel safe, comfortable and where they could do their everyday activities.

Heidegger recalls in a larger picture earth as the dwelling place for us the mortals and sky as the unreachable space of divinities, whose dimensions also serve as a departer. Earth is the place where humans dwell but still dwelling is not equal to the man's being, as a main characteristic of the human. In the same way, building can not be the same thing as dwelling as humans make buildings for other purposes as well. An example that requires for the same logic is that of the man and language. Man created language in order to express feelings and thoughts, so he has the power of the creator, but language on it's own is the source of expression and before it man had no actual power.

'...dwelling is the sense of the stay of mortals on the earth', with that I can understand the sense of ''being'' as the main characteristic of us humans, as a state where we leave our life from birth t death. Humans live in earth under the sky which plays probably the biggest role on the process of life, which states the conditions for which we have to fit in. The concept of death gives meaning to the other aspect of the fourfold, as we end the process of life to gather later on with the divines, whose dwelling space is the infinity of the sky.

House is a building which has been built through a building construction process, but we actually associate it with the dwelling process as it fits to our requirements of comfort in order to go on with our everyday routine. The house takes the meaning with which we relate it because of the ones that dwell in it and the surrounding will also take another meaning because of the people's interactions. The house becomes a locale as we associate it with a particular event that states in a specific space.

Building comes from dwelling, as a need for being for us the mortals but out of all the thought put on these two for the sake of understanding each in the concept, thinking is related directly but go in different direction when it comes to building. Thinking is directly related to dwelling as it must be raised among the concept of organizing the space and the functionality, while building is the technical aspect of creating dwelling.
